open to the public. If you're in town, come on in!
The sessions for this album were really fun - James Taylor with a brazilian touch and more...
details below:
"The best intelligent pop I've heard in many years" -- Micah Solomon, CEO, Oasis CD
"Just a crazy-girl song away from the big time" -- Bill Ribas, NYRockReview
[one crazy-girl song, coming up]
Chris Muth (producer) and Eric Nicolas (singer, guitarist) are proud to announce that the new album "The Water Wheel" is just about done.
An advance EP, 50 copies of which will be individually signed, numbered, and maybe doodled on, will be available at the party we are throwing at the FEZ next Tuesday.
(The whole record, well, we can all wait another week or three for mixing and mastering. It'll be worth it.)
The party: FEZ under TIME CAFE, Lafayette at Great Jones, NYC
TUESDAY AUG. 20 at 8 pm
Doors open at 7:30
Further enticements to be announced.
Billy Ward, Gary Schreiner, Paul Ossola, Paul Livant, Chris Muth and Eric Nicolas all played MUSIC on this record, TOGETHER, often simultaneously, straight onto 16 tracks of glorious warm delicious 2-inch analog tape. Certain divine errors were preserved. No ProTools, just long continuous takes of soulful deliverin'. Jaime Babbitt, Everett Bradley, and Annette Andreou sang harmonies. Mauro Refusco played Brazilian percussion. It's an amazing sounding thing, and the tunes ain't bad.
We can't have Livant on the gig, he'll be in Japan, but everybody else will be there. Schreiner will be sweeping us off our feet with harmonica solos and accordion. Jaime Babbitt has a really cool new haircut. The sound at FEZ is great -- Freddie Katz will be manning the board, and he's the best. Annette is back from her Britney tour, so she'll guest star on her favorite tune. Billy Ward will just have come back from another Joan Osborne stint. Some stuntman will probably be doing the impossible on guitar when Eric needs to delegate. Captain Hook will narrate at least one song.
Suzanne Fiol, an excellent artist/photographer based in Brooklyn, took the photo (of Nicolas, nude, ravaged by malaria, and stoned on peyote on a strip of beach by the Caspian Sea, where he was doing research for his song "Let's All Join the Mujahideen") which has been desecrated without her consent on the attached flyer.
Please plan to attend this special unveiling.
Thanks!
