Was trolling around my drummy bookmarks while eating lunch at work today and came across this interview with Derek Roddy:

Everytime I see or read something about him, I'm always struck by what a genuinely nice guy he seems to be, as well as by the breadth of his musicianship. I can't say the same for many other 'metal' drummers (though admittedly I'm not familiar with all of them), but I think it's great that he champions things more than simply playing fast and listening to only one type of music (I get into a jazz-only diet far too often), and is articulate about it to boot. For the generation of drummers that have grown up immersed in that genre of music, it's awesome that one of its respected figureheads espouses such a 'blinders-off' approach to playing the instrument.
No point to this post, really... I just find myself constantly surprised by how much I like both his playing (since I usually can't get into that style of drumming) and his attitude.
