i think that particular group needs to choose one of two theses, those being the following:

a) women deserve to have rights
b) education and material support for individuals in the developing world could go a long way towards enhancing both political stability and economic prosperity.

not:

c) education and material support for certain individual girls in the developing world could solve every problem that we are facing as a race and as a society.

their current stance seems to be the latter, and as evidence they provide the following facts:

* educating girls seems to postpone them starting families, and those families are likely to be smaller

> ok, fine. what is the difference in number of progeny between an educated and an uneducated man?

* educated mothers are more likely to have educated children.

> sure, but what about educated fathers?

* girls and women re-invest between 60 and 90 % more in their families than men do

> that seems bogus to me. i want proof.

* educated girls earn more than uneducated ones

> the same is true for boys

and finally:

* 75 % of HIV infected youth in africa are girls

> well, that's a shame, but, based on my understanding, this problem could be directly addressed by educating not HIV negative girls, but HIV positive men.

so what am i saying here?
basically that everything this group hopes to accomplish should be accomplished for its own sake, but that the end they claim would be inevitable in that is neither inevitable or even logically to be expected.
