I've written a new song called "Please come back to me." I really like having you all give a listen...plus I tossed this over to Billy...thought maybe the musical distraction might be fun... I tracked just the piano part...I want Billy to give me suggestions...as I really don't want a typical drum track...but don't know what the hell to do...if there is even to be one... Anyway...give a listen...give a hoot...don't pollute... "Please come back to me." amba

I don't know if that means any to you. If you are looking for suggestions, I think a really sweet bass line in counterpoint would open up some cool dimensions. ala Peter Gabriel's "Father, Son" For percussive inspiration, I would listen to Paul Simon from the "Slip Sliding Away" era. Random suggestion: Hat on pushing 1/8th's, Syncopated 1..a.e&..e.a..e&. as melodic/percussive line (maybe hand drum tones or fingers on open snare/toms), sparse bass drum w/ some attitude 1............e&. or 1..a.e...e.a.e... Good luck with the track! Looking forward to hearing it develop! MC

Maybe some strings? Peter Gabriel's "Father Son" is definitely a good point of reference, as is Phil Collins' "You Know What I Mean." If it's not going to have lyrics, I'd say use a pair of brushes and play more sweeps than patterns, and accent cymbals more than drums. Maybe a brush in one hand and nothing in the other? I think it'd be much more effective to play for color as opposed to rhythm. That's my two cents. Either way, it sounds great! I really like the melody and I hope you share the final product.

It could totally stand alone, or it could be embellished in loads of different ways. Maybe it would be a fun project for peeps here to send you a drum track...kinda like the BWSS group project we did a couple years ago. Not that you'd probably want to mix em all together, but it would be groovy to see how we all interpret it in different ways. Just a thought.

I am going to get the words done and get a rough voc track on with a simpler more accompaniment type piano track...that should help with arrangement ideas... amba
