Exactly, an airport hangar is a good descriptor for the acoustics.

This is actually a boat repair garage, 25 foot ceiling, and as mentioned before, steel and concrete.

The audience has enough room to spread out, I don't see them as having much but minimal impact on the sound.(absorption)

No microphones on the cabs, just vocals and possibly drums.

I have played their before, and without mikes the sound is very echo reflective.

At least we have cut down out P.A load 50 percent by cutting out the Heil 5 foot speaker cabs, and power amps.

Going with an older, but reliable (and smaller) Peavey P.A.

We will have monitor wedges and mains left and right.

The gig was mediocre , not a lot of people, but the sound worked out nicely.

Turns out the steel interior was paneled with particle board since the last time I played there.

This greatly improved the acoustic quality.

We used Scott's tight grouping suggestion for the guitar cabs, I had no problems hearing them.

Used two SM 57s for snare and toms and the 52 A on the kick.

I mixed my sound on a separate mixer and sent it out to the main board, also vocals, we put the Peavey PA speakers on onstage stands high up.

People danced, but then yawned and wanted to go home.

The food was great and I got paid to play, can't complain, but sometime, I have to wonder, why are the 20 somethings going home early and the old timers staying late?

Mainely... gbet out those brushes or blasticks!!
If you guys do this, it may be your best gig ever.

One thing is for certain, this is all a learning experience, even after all these years.

Sound engineering is an art in itself, show respect for your sound man!
