When I go on gigs, I carry a big bag of spare parts, including cables. Most of these cables were 1/4"s cannibalized from my first Roland drum set, but they did their job very well. I also liked them because they were thin cables, which meant I could cram more in the bag.
However, they're starting to crap out. This means I need to get replacements. Unfortunately, cables have gotten thicker over the years, which I don't especially like.
I had the idea of making my own. I'm a smart guy, I don't think it would be a hard thing to learn how to solder a lead to a wire. But, my concern is the cables themselves. Sometimes the old cables would be used for connecting devices like effect pedals, sometimes they'd go right from an instrument to an amp. I'm concerned that homemade would result in a poor quality sound.'
If anyone had any experience they could share with this, I'd appreciate it mightily. Thank you kindly.
