Oh Mainley! I remember reading your post a while back about the flood in your rehearsal space. Friday it was my turn.
I started my vacation on Friday and woke up to a flood in my basement studio. I got a drink of water in the middle of the night and left the water in the kitchen running, which trickled along a pan, onto the hardwood floor... and eventually down right onto my drum studio. So I spent the better part of Friday with a wet/dry vac and hauling drums and carpets and gear out into the back yard so I could get it dry and get all the water so nothing molds.
Luckily it missed all the electronics. So all my rack gear, and computers and Mics and everything are safe. It also missed my Pear Masters kit that I've had for over 20 years now.
Unfortunately, it came down right on top of 2 other kits, including my 70's vintage Slingerland kit that I just re-finished a few months ago...ugh. It soaked some cymbals that are going to be just fine, and my drum cases, which will be fine, and a cheap-o kit that I haul around for little gigs. As I picked up the first 13" tom from the Slingerland kit I could see about 4" of water inside the mahogany shell.. splashing around... I've dried them out pretty good now... so we will see in a few days how bad it is. I'm not to optimistic. The piece I was most happy with the 18" converted Slingerland kick only got a little damp on the outside.... so I'm happy that one will probably be fine.
All in all... I'm happy. It could have been much much worse. I finally realized how much $ I've got down there and it's a bit scary. After shop-vac'ing my arse off and airing the room out in the dry colorado air, It's all dry to the touch, carpet included. I'll call this one a warning shot.
