It sounds like they're trying to be Dave Matthews Band with a girl singer.
Swung 16th notes? Check. Busy drums? Check. Funky bass? Check. Saxomaphone solo? Check. |

Well.... | ||

It may not be the DMB, but it sure sounds like Carter Beuford. If it's not him I have no clue!!!

No, it is not the DMB...and it is NOT Carter Beuford...
Shock city coming up... No clues as of yet...need more guesses...need more guesses... |

Our own esteemed host, Billy Ward! Maybe....?
|
|||
ambadextro |
Not me...and not our Billy...
|
..however the first time I heard this drummer I fell in love with WAI 19 because we did play very similar...funny you should ask that...but no...!
Thanks for the amazing compliment... |

|||
kapdrums |
question! | ||
|
...was the song recorded in new orleans?it could be russel baptiste on the kit...
|
|||
ambadextro |
Hey Kap... | ||
|
We are looking for the drummer...the drummer is so well known that I don't even want to give any clues...!!
But no...not Russel Baptiste...who the hell is Russel Baptiste?? Off I go on a lovely new research journey springboard by WAI ! Thanks Kap! amba |

Once again......I'm clueless, flummoxed and completely without an answer. The singer is beige to me -- doesn't stand out an I have no idea who she is.
happy to be playing drums

Ok... | ||

In an email to me, Neil M.'s first guess was correct...! And his second, just to keep the names on board, was Manu Katche...which it is not.
Our very own B.Ward got it...yes, Billy...you are correct with your WAI drummer and WAI 19's "public time." Cool term..."public time...!" "Live...from New York...it's...PUBLIC TIME!" Who ever steals that for a band name has to give kudo's and royalties to Mr. Ward... A clue...the bass player is a "Chick - n - Al..." amba

its russel batiste actually,not baptiste...he's the man who occupies zigaboo's seat in the funky meters...anyway... is the guy who we're looking for,Steve Jordan by any chance?when was the song recorded? |

Amba - I only got right when you gave me clue. When the time comes, you should try another clue? Cornelius got it?... AGAIN?? He's such a wisenheimer!

Kap, Billy... | ||

Yes, Corn-man is the doodness of earsville...he gets these like a rat to a mini-marshmallow treat.
Kap, no this WAI is not Steve Jordan...but I could see why you might think that...high snare pitch...funkyness...the song was recorded in 1991. Another clue...this drummer spent his formidable years in the Middle East. amba |

From MartialDrum... | ||

"Hey Amba,
Complete shot in the dark for this oneā¦.is it Shawn Pelton?" No, MartialMan, Not Shawn...but is a twisted track so I can see why... amba

i think i got it! | ||

ambadextro |
You are correct Kappy...
|
Yes, Stue and Animal Logic...from "Animal Logic II." The name of the song is "I'd do anything."
Deborah Holland on vocs...Manely Stanely on bass... All songs except "Stone in my shoe" were written by Holland. I.R.S. Records...which is Stuart's brothers', Miles Copeland's, company. Their biggest rotation on radio was "Rose colored glasses." Thought I might slip a toughie on you guys as most of you hear Stu with only the Police... Good one, Kap.... Animal Logic ONE Animal Logic TWO Wikipedia I know...but not much info on these guys...they only did the two albums...and just a few short tours... I though for sure you would all recognize Stuart's drumming right away...! So Billy, Corneilius and Kapdrums...good job. And John Curry...just a little late...but you did guess correctly, J.! Until next time.... Keep your ears open...and your mind full of mush... amba
