Navin,
If I had a body like that I would save money on clothes too! Billy, Thanks for sharing! It's awesome to see you in action on that D-Dub. I can't wait to see the rest of the performance. MC |

The best thing is to see the faces of the kids in total complete awe! Priceless!

Kdarkcrashin found this link, yesterday..
Am I missing something or is this a different feed? http://billyward.yuku.com/topic/2838 |

No, LB, you did not miss a single beat: they're one and the same... unless I missed something.
That's what's called a "teaser" in "marketing"! Hudson Music is trying to sell the MD Fest 2008 DVD in advance! And while they're at that they also put out some of of the "backstuff"! That must be layed out somewhere in a contract all drummers must have signed. Hope they all make their own connected bucks! |

O.K., I thought Billy prefaced the thread with "delayed feed" and I assumed it was going to stream live.
No matter, the clips shared did (as Mario mentioned) their marketing trick on me, I wanted more in every case! Did you catch Billy playing shaker with Simon Phillips band? If I had two stellar bands in my face and ears all weekend I would be pretty giddy as well. I loved ALL you guys, but I have a confession: Ndugu Chancellor blew my socks off, it was like he conjured Elvin, Tony, Ginger Baker playing African style toms (or is Ginger channeling Ndugu?) I just loved this guy! Update: Watched Derek Roddy's set, appreciate the technique, acknowledge that I will never approach the speed, skill and dexterity, and having said that, it is the least musical sounding to me. Old age, whatever, jackhammer 200 BPM until dead doesn't do it for me. It literally sounds like a jackhammer on a street.

Billy,
I don't know how much effect the mikes have on your tom sound but on the video they sound wonderful. Deep and low without a lot of bend or plastic attack sound. Wonderful deep pure tones. That is your new jazz kit isn't it? Rod |

Yeah - it's jazz series toms and snare. Awesome! The bass drum is a 23 X shell.

Sorry, I should've mentioned, the tom mics are barely on - I asked the FOH guy (Bill - who was very talented) to put a high pass on the tom mics around 4k.
The sound you are commenting on is coming to you through the two overheads. KSM141s BTW.

The KSM's sound very nice Billy! Why the unusual placement? Looks like recorderman setup to me ...

Billy,
Because I know nothing about mikes, is the sound we hear on the video the same or close to the sound we would hear sitting at the drums or ten feet in front of the drumset? Thanks. Rod |

Rod. Yes! The room enters into play - so if it is bright, the cymbals might be more mushy - but that IS the sound.
