yeah, Paul, no woofer this time. I have two kits with woofers - so that's enough for now. I need to be contrary with my gear - NO REPEATS! The idea is to
have as few-a-drums as possible but have ALL the colors available. I have four DW kits right now after thinning out the herd for Aaron's Eithiopia trip.

Billy! those are amazing! Thanks for those pics - I haven't posted pics of my Jazzies, because everyone has already seen them!
I hope you love your Jazz drums as much as I do. It's been a year since you gave them to me, and they just keep sounding better and better. Can't wait to hear you playing 'em... |

"...year and a half since you GAVE THEM TO ME" - Cornelius. Neil, you EARNED those drums (and more) with your hard work and talent on Voices!

very nice Billy. Even Angela likes the look of them (probably not enough that they still wouldn't get relegated to the basement, but still...)
Since my employer was acquired back in October, my pension is being moved to a new provider. I wonder if anybody would notice ~5k missing... mmm, bad idea I suppose, since 5k now would cost me what-?- 20 times that in another (uggh!!) 20 years when I retire |

Hey Billy,
Thanks for the heads-up over at Bart's place! Damn are those gorgeous! It times like this when the guys who claim that the looks of their kit have absolutely no value have got to be hard pressed to keep that argument! |

Drum4JC wrote: hey Drums - I'm not so sure - I mean, yeah, these are beautiful - kind of over the top beautiful - but when you get what you want... like a simple wrap finish, it can be VERY satisfying. nonetheless, thanks for checking in here! I think beautiful drums are beautiful in the hand so the player mostly. |

Nice kit Billy. Do I see a rackmount Chandler Audio mic preamp in the background? What part of the drumset do you like the Chandler Audio?

I bought the TG2 and the Germanium to check them out. They are nice! I sstill like the Dakings - but they offer a little something - particularly the Germ.
That's got some natural beef! I'm enjoying that on the room mic-

Can't do the sound file. I just recorded with them at my studio this week and am finishing tomorrow. but there are copyright issues with publishing the
music online. Furthermore, Anything can sound like anything if you have my gear and experience. not meant to be bragging.. it's just the way it is. the 20
goes from jazzy way high bass drum to nasty - up your butt drum. The only way for me to get the sound of the 23 is to use one of my two pairs of bass drums
WITH the woofer. It is deep-city - hit'ws you in the chest in a way that hasn't before happened. And that is the charm of that drum! I wish i could
post sounds... The bottom end is so easy to attain with the 23 - it's like.. "OK.. is this too much?" Scary.

Yes indeed, Billy, I do live in Victoria, BC. I actually just returned from a three month trip to Houston, Texas which I also love. Fresh air, laid-back
livin' and water on three sides of the city here in Victoria. It's a beautiful place to live. Unfortunately, the music scene is not so great. Plenty of
musicians but not many places to play live shows. I'm actually contemplating a move to Vancouver.
Have you been here? Would you come here to do a clinic? |

I'd love to come there again. I've passed through Victoria on tours. the cool tour managers usually give a day off when you are in a place like that!
Vancouver definitely has more music happening - maybe even Regina??

Hey Billy!
Congrats on the new baby... i mean the kit looks awesome! Fantastic. The black chrome is cool too. I've been thinking about eventually getting 20 (I'm a short guy and I've been really needing smaller bass drums to get the right positioning if I want to use more than one tom. anyway, my question is about the X shell. What are your comments about the 20 with an X shell versus a regular twenty.. and would you recommend getting something like that for playing a wide variety of gigs and settings? I have a 22 regular collectors and an 18 and the 18 is nice but not really loud enough and the 22 is great but kinda deep (20 deep) and a bit of a pain to move and to play (the cannon depth makes it a bit of an effort to get it going). I feel that a 20 is propably just right but I want to get something that will still give me enough umph, without having to resort to putting short toms there (not that i don't like them but I'm a fan of the more traditional look. Maybe we'll see you in montreal and get to hear some crazy drums.. hehe Cheers Nick T |
