Same head combinations for me! but, obviously the 23 heads are DW.
I guess if I was REALLY going to be a jazz guy, then I might go with lighter batter heads - but that is unlikely - also, I need the dbl. thickness to help last through all the abuse I dish out (with my shaker cans and all that kind of stuff!)

With the new shells presenting new sounds, have you changed your batter and resonant heads on your bass drum? EQ4 batter and EQ3 resonant? Muffling change? ( 23 inch head being an exception )

But not that "over the top" one-of-a-kind finish.
Now I understand what you meant when you described your drums.
That grain with the inlaid signature takes "special" to a whole 'nother level.

Congrats on the new baby... i mean the kit looks awesome! Fantastic. The black chrome is cool too.

I've been thinking about eventually getting 20 (I'm a short guy and I've been really needing smaller bass drums to get the right positioning if I want to use more than one tom. anyway, my question is about the X shell. What are your comments about the 20 with an X shell versus a regular twenty.. and would you recommend getting something like that for playing...

I'd love to come there again. I've passed through Victoria on tours. the cool tour managers usually give a day off when you are in a place like that! Vancouver definitely has more music happening - maybe even Regina?? Going there in about a week for a clinic! (3rd try is the charm!)

Yes indeed, Billy, I do live in Victoria, BC. I actually just returned from a three month trip to Houston, Texas which I also love. Fresh air, laid-back livin' and water on three sides of the city here in Victoria. It's a beautiful place to live. Unfortunately, the music scene is not so great. Plenty of musicians but not many places to play live shows. I'm actually contemplating a move to Vancouver.
Have you been here? Would you come here to do a clinic?

Wow! Stunning! Those are simple gorgeous! I'm really curious about the 23" BD. I have a new Spaun kit on order. I'll try to upload pics when I get it. Here's the details....
20x16 BD
12x8 rack tom
14x13 floor tom on legs
16x14 floor tom on legs
finish will be a deep red to almost orangy-red fade(from bottom to top) on maple shells. chrome hardware.
Can't wait.
