Bearing Edge (Referrals?) and Massive Snare Head Failure!!!

I'm SO heart-broken.

Have a Premier Genista kit, probably from the early 90s, with matching snare.

Decided to pick up new heads all the way around, so went with Evans. For the snare, got the EC2. But something was wrong with the head. The rim of the head was eeking past the triple-flange hoop!!

Took it back to GC and left the head on the snare so they could see first-hand what happened. They see it and cannot believe it. They take the defective head off and...

I love this guy. He must be the most percussive singer - ever. He's got better time than most drummers!

If you ever get into his other early songs, the drumming is soo inventive as well!
The drummer on this is Gerry Conway, who seems to be enjoying himself - alot! I know I would if I had that gig!

Someday, somebody else will cover this song and have a hit record.

I was in college, 29 years ago, working on a group project for a communications class.

Seems like a minute ago.

We had the game on (Monday Night Football) and heard Howard Cosell announce that John had been shot.

It was like the room went fuzzy and everything tilted, no one I was with could believe what they were hearing.

I hope he has found some of the peace he was striving for in the earthly realm.

I thought I had problems with Windows 7!

Spent today trying to repair an 8000 (dollar) generator for relatives, the thing has never worked right since day one.

It was low on oil, but then you had to press a bunch of buttons to get it to clear, a real pain.

It starts automatically (when it works) when the power goes out, and it looks like it may happen depending on the severity of the storm passing through tomorrow.

Man, I hate when this happens.

I was reading the Jan. issue of MD this morning and came across a letter responding to an article in the previous issue. MD has (in my opinion) taken a page from DRUM! and started doing top 10 lists from drummers, advice, things of that nature. The drummer in question was Mark O'Connell who advised that aspiring drummers skip their worst subject in school in favor of practice. The reader properly lambasted O'Connell saying that it was some of the most irresponsible...

Today, I was sitting at the computer at my studio and hitting five buttons every five minutes or so - downloading some Bill Champlin stuff that you guys may be hearing at some point on YouTube or something.

Instead of staring at the computer or making phone calls, I worked on my tambourine technique. It greatly approved in just one two hour hit!
Have you ever seen that guy in "Standing In The Shadows Of Motown" playing the tamb? He is awesome - so relaxed.

As I was playing today two things happened

I hit my thumb with the drumstick trying to keep my right hand away from the body more like Billy's show's on his DVD.

It happens less frequently now than in the beginning but sure bites when it happens.

The other thing that happened today was I was wearing in ear headphones- the type that squeezes into the ear canal and forgot to tuck the wire in my shirt and my arm somehow caught the wire and yanked them...

...I'm teaching and drinking coffee from my BWSS coffee mug...I have sudden outbursts where I yell "PARADIDDLE!"

I reach over and shake the student's snare drum...while they're playing.

I laugh out loud when I play something cool...

I stuff things into my hi hat foot/shoe.

I wear rose colored glasses...and I don't need glasses.

I play a lot more cross stick than I normally do.

My hands are so relaxed I throw...

Been away for a few days, installing Windows 7, the latest OS from Microsuck..

In computer geek terminology, it's called "migrating" it is the equivalent of moving all your computer "furniture" to a new virtual "house" and you hope the movers didn't loose or break anything.

Actually, it is pretty good, some hangs, but compared to the Vista disaster they got it...

I don't know if anyone else has ever asked this, but I will.

When we talk about drumsets, if someone says a four-piece, generally that means kick, snare, two toms. Right? Right.

Usually once you get into the Portnoy/Peart/Bozzio realm, the "x-Piece" designation usually goes away.

But regardless of all this, if you say a four-piece kit, it never mentions things like cymbals or percussion. We assume that a four-piece will be fairly minimal, but...
